Adaptive Spin Class
Picture this, you roll into a room filled with hand cycles up on trainers. Sitting on those hand cycles are quads, pars, and amputees. There are a couple of road bikes with able bodies also on trainers. The music cranking elevates the energy and provides a distraction (sometimes from the pain or pleasure depending on your outlook). Those that do sweat are drenched. This is the p.a.t.h.-sci Adaptive Spin Class. The mental and physical challenges of the Adaptive Spin Classes will allow your body and mind to grow beyond its present limitations. Each class is designed to challenge a broad range of clients. From a high level quad who may not have a strong level of fitness to a low level para athlete, each gets to choose their gearing and cadences for both work and rest. The intervals will be either structured for the whole workout or they will be created in the moment by the participants. However created the riders ultimately get to choose how hard they desire to work. This is not however a cruiser class, the hand cycles are set up in a semi circle so everyone faces each other, there is no hiding. The classes are small and intimate, everyone working together to lift up each other to reach new levels of fitness. The hand cycles that we are using are borrowed from a variety of locals, we are very fortunate to have use of them. Each cycle is mounted on a resistance trainer and is adaptable to a variety of bodies. There is a drop in fee of $10.00 per class. Bike availability can be reserved with prepayment of the drop in fee, otherwise it is on a first come first served basis. Please call JJ at 250-507-7785 for more information and to reserve a hand cycle for the next suffer fest/ I mean workout.
